How many times have you decided to start a fitness program but you just really don’t feel like it? You’re stiff, unmotivated and just plain unhappy with your body. Exercise isn’t always enjoyable, but what if you actually found a form of exercise that feels good and improves your body?
One form of exercise we recommend to beginner students or clients is Yoga. Yoga, not necessarily the meditating kind, can really change your outlook about exercise and your body. The postures give you a sense of control over your body and are amazing at putting your body in just the right position to relieve tight muscles and increase circulation. Yoga is empowering and very effective at increasing your strength, flexibility and muscle tone. While Yoga is usually not considered a cardiovascular, fat-burning workout, those that practice Yoga seem to have better management of their weight.
Yoga originated in India several thousands of years ago. It has become increasingly popular over the last couple of decades in the U.S. for its mind and body approach to fitness. Most Americans quickly grew tired of the “no pain, no gain” slogan and have found that they can achieve wonderful fitness gains with exercise that actually feels good!
Those practicing Yoga on a regular basis quickly discover that their bodies become more flexible, and therefore, more useful. Activities like getting into a car or turning one’s head to see out the car's back window suddenly become much easier. Daily chores such as carrying groceries or lifting heavy objects become less challenging. One’s body not only becomes healthier, but also looks healthier. So, you don't have put yourself in pain to look and feel better. Try Yoga for a change and see the change in you!
